Cool Web Designs Fight the Hackers workshops

Web security workshop. Protect your website from hackers. This is an all day workshop to teach you how to use the C-Panel features to block out intruders. I will teach you tips on how to develop secure passwords ( up to 50 characters long ) to thwart out would be cyber hackers coming to your network. You will learn how to track down the IP addresses of these cyber terrorist and stop them from coming back again. You will learn how to operate C Panel features to secure all your websites in your server

Some common attacks on sites. A lot of hackers use SQL injections which is what happen to six of my websites which were hosted on I-page. It was a nasty attack and two months worth of web programming & design down the tube. Most dynamic websites uses PHP and MySQL. I will explain the pros and cons of security of different programs like WordPress,Drupal, Joomla, PHP forums, etc. Each has its own weakness and strengths. One important lesson you will learn is how to backup your database in case you get attacked.

The way hackers break in to your site is hacking the URL ( universal resource locator) query string and causing an error to be displayed. By breaking your website and causing errors, your once secret table names and column names of your database are exposed. With these valuable errors, a hacker can wreak havoc on your database and your website can be deface or worst planted with nasty viruses that can even spread to your laptops.

Another popular kind of hacking are call XSS ( cross-site scripting attacks ) which occurs when a web applications gather malicious data from a user. The data us usually gathered in the form of a hyperlink which contains malicious code. You as a web surfer can just innocently click on this link from another website, an instant
message or reading your own email. This happens in many popular guest books and forums.

Check this XSS article
A popular PHP program like PHPnuke has this ” XSS holes ” that are vulnerable to attacks. I know all these kind of web terminology sounds greek to you and also scary. So watch out for questionable Javacript, ActiveX, HTML, or flash links. I will try to explain in layman’s term how you can minimize this kind of attacks to your website which you spend a lot of time and money. I will show you how to hide website errors by setting up custom error pages.

You save this html page as error404.htm and upload to the server and this will stop many hackers right in their tracks.

And finally, you will learn how to prevent hackers from manipulating the URL query string and executing scripts ( will explain what this means ) and deleting your tables. I will show you how to block input containing malicious code. Of course, you also want to bring in good input from your users who want to log comments into your blog. A common saying in the programming world is ” ALL INPUT IS EVIL.” So everything must be treated with caution.

I hope this article is not too way over your head as a beginner to trying to understand internet security. But it comes real handy to protecting your valuable investment of time and money on your business website or blog
or any site that makes money for you. Email me if you have any more questions.
